CHANGE OF LOCATION!

Community Night will STILL be held at Cedarville University tomorrow at 6:30, however, because of the large response to this event, it will no longer be in the Stevens Student Center Event Rooms. Instead, Community Night will be held in the Dixon Ministry Center Chapel. This building is just a one minute walk away from the original location. Still plan on parking in the designated lots. Equilibrium members will be there to guide you to the right location.

AND THE SPEAKER IS....

Equilibrium is proud to present the speaker of Community Night, Avijit Halder!

Avijit Halder was born into a brothel in the Indian city of Calcutta. He was one of eight children featured in the Oscar-winning documentary, Born into Brothels. These children were taught the art of photography in order to share their lives and their surroundings in Calcutta’s red light district with the rest of the world. The photographs taken by the children received a lot of attention and were put on display in Calcutta and in New York. Avijit’s photographs quickly became the highlight of those exhibitions and he was invited to participate in a photo talent contest in Amsterdam, Holland. The producers of Born into Brothels established a charity called Kids with Cameras in order to help the children featured in the documentary to be able to go to school. In 2005, Avijit was given the opportunity to leave India in order to attend a school in New Hampshire. While attending a workshop at New York University in 2007, Avijit decided that he wanted to pursue a career as a film maker. With assistance from Kids with Cameras and a grant from NYU, Avijit is now pursuing his degree at the Kanbar Institute of Film and Television. In the future, Avijit desires to return to Calcutta in order to make a difference in the lives of the people he grew up with.

We are very excited and hope you can join us on March 30th!
